Hongkong, 3rd. August, 1906.
In continuation of my despatch No.420 of the
19th. December, 1904, on the subject of the appointment of
an additional Surveyor, I have the honour to transmit a
minute dated the 17th. June last by Mr. Clementi, Assistant
Land Officer, setting forth the necessity of engaging a
surveyor whose whole time shall be available for service in
the northern District of the New Territories.
2.
Both Mr. L. C. Rees and Mr. B. W. Grey are
away on leave of absence granted on medical certificate, and
I have been obliged to engage temporarily a local gentleman,
Mr. Sayers, to render assistance in overtaking some of the
more pressing arrears of survey work and in delimiting on
the ground the boundaries of lots leased in the southern
District of the New Territories.
